REDLANDS AIRFIELD, SWINDON

Our routine annual safety check of this airfield (primarily used for micro-light flying, parachuting and skydiving) brought to light a few electrical faults, which we set about resolving. The facility is fairly unique from an electrical point of view, as due to the remote location it is powered entirely by a 12-volt battery.

The main issue was that, due to changes in regulations, the location of the battery was no longer deemed as safe and secure. To overcome this problem we relocated the battery into a secure enclosure and installed a safety cut-off key, as well as an MCB (miniature circuit breaker).

With this work completed, as well as a number of other minor electrical issues that we resolved, we were able to provide the airfield with their electrical safety certificate for another year.
